The end of a chapter for Brides & Dreams

The End of a Chapter

Today I woke up from a terrible night's sleep.... hours of tossing and turning, watching the clock, and I guess it was because I knew what the day had in store for me....

I was packing up my beautiful little bridal shop. My dream.... Brides & Dreams.

To anyone who visited Brides & Dreams you would know it was a little bridal boutique situated in Redcar Central Arcade, next to local businesses such as Caketoppers, The Powder Room, Hair by Proud and Kingpin Tattoos.

The Return of a hidden gem in Redcar

A hidden gem of Redcar has been making a come back this year to the wedding industry and I'm so happy!

Buckley Studios are a pair of wedding photographers (husband and wife teamwork!) and they are the best I have come across!  and believe me I have come across a few.

Some may say i'm biased as Buckley Studios provided me with my wedding day photography but it isn't. I chose them back in 2008 because I saw their talents back then and watch on in awe at the amazing images they continue to take.

Double success!

Brides & Dreams has just finished its 26th week in business. A whole six months! (wow!)

When I started this business venture back in January I was so nervous. I didn't know if I would last this long but I have and to my surprise the business is doing so great!

The boutique is continuing to thrive and helping ladies local and far to find their dream wedding dress. One of my first brides was my brothers childhood friend, and in June a lady al the way from Somerset found 'the one' .

Time to catch up and update

I can't believe its been a month since my last post! Wow time flies when you're self employed

A month ago I'd just finished my bridal photoshoot with the help of some wonderful businesses in Redcar.  With the main reason of it to promote Weddings in Redcar and to go alongside my advertising for the Wedding Fayre at Redcar Racecourse on JUly 29th.

Take a look at the fun Sabrina, Lisa, Claire had around Redcar.

With lots more to release you can see it was a fun day all round.

Cold meets Summer within 2 days

The british weather never fails to surprise me and I'll explain why.

For the last few weeks I have been working on a photoshoot ( i can't give too much away about that as I will spoil the outcome for you) but for weeks the dates May 20th and 21st had been penciled in the diary. Always with the aim that the weather will be well into some kind of sun.

On Saturday the skies remained grey and the temperature was cold, and the rain fell.

My well made plans were slowly falling apart with the horrid weather that seemed to be set for the weekend, and so the shoot was cancelled.

The Enterprise Team made my dream come true

Hello to old and new visitors to my blog.

Well its been 2 months since me and my shop has been featured on Capital Radio as part of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Enterprise Team marketing campaign.

Maybe you have heard it, maybe you haven't.

For the first few days I had friends sending me texts saying 'Have I just heard you on the radio?' or 'As if you're on the radio' .. and yet I hadn't heard it. But the funniest moment which really put a smile on my face was the day I sat at my little work table in the corner of my shop, and a small family walks past.

What do brides want

I thought I'd write about a few of my thoughts today rather than what I've been upto.

Everyday I sit at my desk, looking around my shop and think to myself as I look at the dresses on the rail.. What do brides want?

Do they want subtle and elegant, big princess dresses, lots of sparkles, no sparkles, lace, pearls, vintage, ruffles, organza. The world of bridalwear is the most glamourous labyrinth you'll ever experience.

My shop has a lot of different style dresses in order to have something there for everyone.

Spring sale

Ladies! Its time for a Spring Clean

The rails are getting full of gorgeous dresses and my shop is very quickly shrinking! Making space that doesn't exist is not an option for me and moving into a bigger shop (as much as the thought seems lovely) again is not something that is on the agenda ... well for 2012 at least.

This can only mean one thing!

Its time to have a spring clean and sort through my stock. At the same time, I can offer a handful of beautiful brides to be a wedding dress cheaper than the bridesmaids dresses!

Time for a catch up on Brides & Dreams

Wow its 2 days away from April and Redcar and much of the UK has had weather like July for the last 5 days!

I spent the first summers day of March at The Spring Wedding show at Marton Country Hotel and Club in Marton, Middlesbrough. There I did my very first bridal fashion show.

What can I say... it went very well, I had nine lovely ladies helping me on the day and every one of them looked stunning.

Take a look for yourself

The shop is open

Monday 30th January 2012 - Brides & Dreams, Redcar opened its doors to the brides of Redcar & Cleveland.

Despite a small issue of the shutter being repaired at 10.45 am (opening was at 11am!) the launch of the shop was a huge success.

The bubbly was poured, and sweet treats were looking delicious and the brides to be visited throughout the day.

Have a look at the wonderful images of the day kindly taken by Debbie Stogden of Debbie Stogden Photography, Redcar.
